Conventional air conditioning of course you already know, because since the AC issued this type of an existing air conditioner or the term “his great-grandfather” AC: D. But over time and growing technological progress, various variants of AC appeared among Low wattage AC and AC Inverter.

Low wattage AC

AC electric power at low wattage largely consumed by the AC compressor. Small watt technology using a smaller compressor, so that electric power is smaller. And to achieve the same heat transfer capability (eg: 1 pk = 9000 BTU / hour), one of which is to strengthen the fan in the outdoor unit. If the volume of air is blown over a lot, then the heat is removed too much. For more details, please see how the air conditioning system …

Conventional AC 1 pk generally require power 800-880 watts.
Compared to conventional air conditioning, more efficient type of low wattage power ± 20% with a note, there are things that must be considered:

* Installation of AC pipes connecting the indoor and outdoor units <10 mtr
* Difference in height between outdoor and indoor units <3 mtr
* Outdoor louder
* The rate of cooling when first turned on more slowly

AC Inverter

Inverter technology is already commonly used in industrial production processes with the goal of “faster, more efficient and more accurate” (but of course the price is more expensive). The advantages are also applicable to AC inverter.

How AC inverter work?

AC inverter using current compressor with DC (Direct Current: direct current), such as the electric current generated by batteries. In contrast to the compressor with AC (Alternating Current: alternating current) which has a constant speed motor, DC motor compressor has a spin speed that can be regulated by how much electrical current is given. Imagine a toy car, with new batteries (electric current strength) will be speeding, while if the battery is worn out (weak electric currents), so slowly.

The second keyword is the regulation (regulation), which regulate how much electrical current provided to the compressor.
The third key word is a gas r410a cooler than the gas R22
What are the parameters? Its parameter is the temperature difference, between the actual room temperature and the temperature we want (the temperature listed in the remote AC). If a large temperature difference, the current is given too large, so the compressor works full power. Plain language, if the room is not cold, let cool quickly as you can. This is the first excess of “Faster”

After a while the room temperature down (it is cool), so that the temperature differences also become smaller, the flow becomes smaller, so that the compressor work slow-down. So forth, eventually the compressor to work half-heartedly with the minimal use of electric current. This excess both “More Efficient”

Using a conventional air conditioner thermostat to keep the room temperature we want. In a sense, the temperature set is reached, then the compressor died. After a while the room became less cold, the compressor turns back. In AC inverter with regulations, compressor-flame never dies, at room temperature more stable. Third Excess “More Accurate”

So compared to conventional air conditioning, more efficient type of AC inverter power ± 60% … wowww …

Tips to AC inverter:

* Type of Refrigerant R410A is used, currently more expensive than R22 2x
* The electric power house should be enough, at the start AC inverter works with lower power so it does not make home electrical MCB jatuh.Slowly to Full Power and then down to a very small power after the temperature reached .. even very small at the end
* Technical installation is no different from conventional air conditioning, it takes only vacuum pump and the cable is properly inserted (1,2,3,4 should not be mixed up)
* Set is the temperature at 23-25 º C to save electricity
* If your goal is saving to pay electricity, the AC inverter suitable for office, restaurant, salon or a room for business activities that operate during the day with traffic of people and out of the room that is too often.

The government of the Republic of Indonesia consists of 27 provinces. Some of them have a status as the Special Region. Those are the Capital Special Region of Jakarta as a capital of the country, the Special Region of Aceh and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. What is now called Special Region of Yogyakarta has come into being continuing the administrations existing In carrying out the local government administration it considers three principle those are decentralization, deconcentration and the assistance task.

The provincial Government carries out the responsibilities and authorities of the Central Government, on other hand carries out its autonomous responsibilities and authorities.

The Regional Government consists of the Head of the Region and the Legislative Assembly of the Region. Such construction guarantees good cooperation between the Head of Region and the Legislative Assembly of Region in order to achieve a sound regional government administration. The Head of the Special Region of Yogyakarta has got responsibility as the Head of the Territory and titled as a Governor.

The first Governor was the late HRH. Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX, Sultan of Yogyakarta and continued by HRH. Paku Alam VIII as the Acting Governor up to at present. Unlike the other Heads of the Region Level in Indonesia the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta have got privilege or special status of not being bound to the period of position nor the requirements and way of appointment. However in carrying out their duties they have got the same authorities and responsibilities.

The remains of Shivaite Hinduism civilization is the ruins of an eldest Shivaite Hinduism Temple in Dieng Plateau with its height more than 2000 meters above of the sea level and lies about 125 kilometers northwest of Yogyakarta. The Cailendra Dynasty continued to rule over Mataram Kingdom for more than a Century with the religion that were adhered is Mahayana Buddhism. Towards the middle of the 8th Century the Buddhist Ceilendra Dynasty brought the Central Java under their influence but without completely subjugating the Shivaite Hindu Sanjaya Dynasty. In the era of Cailendra Dynasty the civilization was in a good progress. The amazing fact is that more than one religion as well as religious sects could get along well with each other and a variety of societies live side by side in harmony.

Shiva and Buddha seem indeed to have been regarded by their adherents as manifestations of one and the same spiritual being. Both Shivaite Hinduism and Mahayana Buddhism were practiced but there were essentially court religions and only very slowly did their influence seep down into village life. The period of intensive Hindu-Buddhist influences in Central and East Java extended from 8th – 15th Century. The massive Borobudur monument (40 kilometers northwest Yogyakarta) and the magnificent Prambanan Temple Complex (18 kilometers east of Yogyakarta) was constructed during the period of 8th – 9th Century AD by both dynasties. It is interesting to note that those temple surroundings of Prambanan Temple complex belongs to the sacred place of two religious Hinduism and Buddhism. During the 10th Century the capital of Mataram Kingdom shifted from Central Java to East Java. Late in the 13th Century the Majapahit Kingdom was founded which was centered in East Java.

The capital of the Kingdom lies nearby Mojokerto and the ruins of the palace has been found within Trowulan district area The Majapahit Kingdom reached the golden age of its power and glory under the powerful leadership of its Prime Minister Gadjah Mada, during the 14th Century. In this era the territory of Majapahit realm extended over Central and East Java, Madura, Bali, Sumatra, Singapore and even to parts of Asia. The trade has grown rapidly and a quite number of foreign traders came and established footholds on the harbor cities and trade centers within this realm.

Those traders, particularly Arab and Indians mostly Moslem beside of merchandise they also brought Islam as a new religion and gradually began spreading in Java and other islands of the Indonesian archipelago. In the late of 15th Century due to the civil war and aristocratic elite conflicts in along term Majapahit became weaker and disappeared early in the 16th Century.

After the fall of Majapahit, the era of Moslem began with the emergence of the Demak Kingdom. The Kingdom established control over Central Java. The Moslem religion at that time had been accepted by the aristocrat and a large section of the population in Central Java.Demak Kingdom as the first Islamic realm was continued by Pajang and finally the Mataram Kingdom. Mataram was founded by Sutawijaya, known as Panembahan Senopati, in the late 16th Century, precisely in 1586 AD. This realm lies in the Southern part of Central Java with its capital near Yogyakarta. The greatest Monarch was
Sultan Agung who reigned from 1613 – 1645. In this era the Mataram Kingdom reached the golden age of its power and at one time was powerful enough to threaten the Dutch militarily in Batavia. Sultan Agung ordered the army to chase away the Dutch from Java in 1628 and 1629 because some of reasons his struggle failed. During the glorious era of Sultan Agung, the Mataram territory extended considerably throughout Central Java, East Java, Kalimantan Island and part of West Java. After Sultan Agung passed away in 1645, Mataram gradually lost its power and was under pressured of the Dutch. In the Mataram Kingdom, as elsewhere, the Dutch cleverly applied the principle of “devide et empera”. In this case the Dutch always became the third party and tried to take advantages the disputes. In the middle of 18th Century, the Mataram Kingdom was under controlled by the Dutch’s military support to keep order his kingdomA small enclave within the Sultanate of Yogyakarta was declared as a self-governing principality and took the name of Kadipaten Pakualaman. Prince Notokusumo, a brother of Sultan, had been crowned as the first ruler the title has used was KGPAA Paku Alam I. Since 1816 the former Mataram Kingdom was thus split up into four self governing principalities, these are Kasultanan Yogyakarta, Kasultanan Surakarta, Kadipaten Mangkunegaran, and Kadipaten Pakualaman. During 1942 -1945 Java was under controlled of the Javanese regime and they also aided unwittingly the Sultan of Yogyakarta in his effort to transform the feudal state he had inherited. In showing their favor to the Indonesian people, the Japanese released the national leaders who had been exiled by the Dutch. The national leaders began organizing the country for eventual independence.

On August 17, 1945 Sukarno and Hatta on behalf of the Indonesian people proclaimed the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The Sultan of Yogyakarta was one of the first Indonesian leaders to rally to the cause of the Republic and offered his support to the national leaders. Soon became clear that they would not be able to hold Jakarta. In 1946 Yogyakarta became the capital city of the Indonesia Republic. Therefore this city became known as the capital of the revolution. Because it was the center of the revolutionary, Yogyakarta is still regarded as having a special place in the history of Indonesia. In recognition of the loyalty and support given by Sultan of Yogyakarta of succeed the struggle of independence, Yogyakarta was made a Special Region within the Indonesian Republic with a provincial status and the Sultan was positioned as the Governor of the province. It is indeed the only former principality to have received this privilege.

Voices usually consist of a male chorus gerong, together with a female soloist pesindhen; however, the voices are not usually featured in court gamelan (as opposed to wayang kulit, shadow puppet theatre) and are supposed to be heard discreetly in the middle of the orchestral sound. In these abstract pieces, the words are largely secondary to the music itself.

There are two tuning systems in Javanese gamelan music, slendro (pentatonic) and pelog (heptatonic in full, but focussing on a pentatonic group). Tuning is not standard, rather each gamelan set will have a distinctive tuning. There are also distinct melodic modes (pathet) associated with each tuning system. A complete gamelan consists of two of sets of instrument, one in each tuning system. Different gamelan sets have different sonorities, and are used for different pieces of music; many are very old, and used for only one specific piece. Musical forms are defined by the rhythmic cycles. These consist of major cycles punctuated by the large gong, subdivided by smaller divisions marked by the striking of smaller gongs such as kenong, kempul and kethuk. The melodic interplay takes place within this framework (technically called “colotomic structure“).

The History of Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta was founded in 1755 and was the capital of Mataram kingdom when the Dutch came along. The Dutch granted the kings by title Sultan of Yogyakarta territory. Yogyakarta was also the scene of Indonesia’s most successful rebellions against the Dutch – firstly with Prince Diponegoro who waged a holy war against colonial rule from 1825 to 1830, and also serving as the capital of the newly independent republic after World War II when the Dutch reoccupied Batavia (Jakarta).

People have lived in Central Java and Yogyakarta area since immemorial time as over the centuries they have been attracted by the rich soil caused by the numerous volcanic eruptions. The earliest recorded history dares from the 9th century and was dominated by Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms that gave rise to the magnificent temples such as Prambanan, Ratu Boko, Kalasan, Sambisari and Borobudur found in this area. Yogyakarta itself dates back to the 18th century. In the early 18th century, Pakubuwono II ruled the Muslim Mataram Kingdom of the time. After he passed away, there was a conflict between his son and his brother, which was encouraged by the Dutch who were trying to colonize the region on a ‘divide and rule’ basis.

The Kingdom was divided into two regions namely Surakarta Hadiningrat kingdom under Sunan Pakubuwono III rule, and Nyayogyakarta Hadiningrat kingdom under Sultan Hamengku Buwono I rule. He was the founder of the present line of Sultans who still live in the Kraton and play important role in Javanese culture. The second kingdom was later called Yogyakarta, now better known as Yogyakarta.

After the independence of the Republic of Indonesia was proclaimed, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX and Sri Paku Alam VIII launched a statement that the Kasultanan and Kadipaten (the two royal regions), belonged to Republic of Indonesia as a part of the whole area of Indonesia Republic. Since then, it has been known as Yogyakarta Special Region and was given a provincial status in 1950 in recognition of its important role in it fighting for the independence.

Getting there & away

Land

1.Bus

Yogya’s Giwangan bus terminal (Jl Imogiri) is 5km southeast of the city centre; city bus 4 connects the terminal with Jl Malioboro; 15 with the kraton.

Buses run from Giwangan all over Java and also to Bali. Normal/air-con buses go to Solo (8000/15, 000Rp, two hours), Semarang (15, 000/30, 000Rp, 3½ hours), Bandung (65, 000/95, 000Rp, 10 hours), Jakarta (85, 000/115, 000Rp, 12 hours) and Surabaya (50, 000/60, 000Rp, eight hours).

For long trips it’s best to take luxury buses. It’s cheaper to buy tickets at the bus terminal, but it’s less hassle to simply check fares and departures with the ticket agents along Jl Mangkubumi, along Jl Sosrowijayan near Kartika Trekking, or along Jl Prawirotaman. These agents can also arrange pick-up from your hotel. Check more than one agent – some charge excessive commission. Typical fares include Denpasar (185, 000Rp; 220, 000Rp with toilet), Surabaya and Malang (75, 000Rp), Bandung (85, 000Rp) and Jakarta (90, 000Rp).

Local buses also operate regularly from the main bus terminal to all the towns in the immediate area, including Borobudur (10, 000Rp, 1½ hours), Parangtritis (7000Rp, one hour) and Kaliurang (37000Rp, one hour). To go to Prambanan (7000Rp), take the yellow Pemuda bus. To go to Imogiri (3000Rp, 40 minutes), take a Colt or the Abadi bus 5 to Panggang and ask the conductor to let you off at the makam (graves).

As well as the main bus terminal, Colts operate to the outlying towns from various subterminals. The most useful is the Terban Colt terminal to the north of the city centre on Jl Simanjuntak. From here Colts go to Kaliurang and Prambanan.

Buses, and particularly Colts, to the tourist attractions around Yogya are renowned for overcharging. Know the correct fare before boarding, and tender the right money, but expect to pay extra if you have luggage taking up passenger space.

2.Train

Centrally located, Yogya’s Tugu train station (514270) handles all business- and executive-class trains. Economy-class trains also depart from and arrive at Lempuyangan station, 1km to the east.

The Senja Utama Yogya (business 100, 000Rp, nine hours) departs for Jakarta at 6.30pm. The executive Argo Lawu (from 200, 000Rp, seven hours) leaves at 9.01am.

To go to Solo, the best option is the Prameks, departing from Tugu at 6.50am, 9.45am, 1pm, 4.10pm and 6.52pm. It costs 6500Rp and takes just over an hour.

The overnight Mutiara Selatan (business 110, 000Rp, six hours) leaves for Surabaya at 1.08am. Numerous other night trains from Jakarta, such as the Bima (executive 170, 000Rp), stop in Yogya (9.40pm) on the way to Surabaya.

Heading for Bandung, the Lodaya (business/executive 90, 000/150, 000Rp, eight hours) passes through Yogya at 9.17pm. Alternatively, the Mutiara Selatan (business 110, 000Rp, 7½ hours) leaves at 10.27pm.

From Lempuyangan train station, most of the economy-class services are overnight trains that run between Surabaya and Jakarta (40, 000Rp, 11 hours) and Bandung (35, 000Rp, 10 hours).

Air

Yogyakarta is well served by a number of airlines, including Garuda (551515; Inna Garuda Hotel, Jl Malioboro 60), Mandala (520603; Jl Mayor Suryotomo 537A), Adam Air (580999; Jl Diponegoro 121) and Lion Air (555028; Melia Purosani Hotel, Jl Mayor Suryotomo 31). The latter also flies to Denpasar and Surabaya. Consult the Java Airfares map for prices.

Surakarta’s founding in 1745 has a mystical history. Following the sacking of the Mataram court at Kartosuro in 1742, the susuhunan, Pakubuwono II, decided to look for a more auspicious site. According to legend, ‘voices’ told the king to go to the village because ‘it is the place decreed by Allah and it will become a great and prosperous city’.

Pakubuwono II died after only fours years in the city, and his heir, Pakubuwono III, managed to lose half of his kingdom to the court of Yogyakarta. Pakubuwono X (1893–1938), however, had more luck. He revived the prestige of the court through the promotion of culture and gave no time to fighting rival royals.

Following WWII, the royal court fumbled opportunities to play a positive role in the revolution, and lost out badly to Yogyakarta, which became the seat of the independence government. The palaces of the city soon became mere symbols of ancient Javanese feudalism and aristocracy.

With the overthrow of Soeharto, Solo erupted following the riots in Jakarta in May 1998. For two days rioters went on a rampage, systematically looting and burning every shopping centre and department store.

Brows still furrow whenever you mention Surakarta (Solo) elsewhere in Java, but the golden arches and Colonel Sanders are back on the billboards and fancy new shopping malls are gradually rising from the ashes of the old. Solo, with its links to extremist groups such as Jemaah Islamiah, remains a politically volcanic city, however, and no-one can predict when the next eruption might take place.

Solo, a traditional and unhurried city 65km northeast of Yogyakarta, often plays second fiddle to its more conspicuous neighbour. But this is just plain unfair. With its backstreet kampung, wide thoroughfares, laid-back locals and rich cultural heritage, Solo has more than enough to warrant at least an overnight visit. Plus the usual cries of ‘Hello mister’, ‘Becak, becak’ and ‘Come to my gallery’ – so ingrained in many of Java’s cities – are less frequent here, as are the tourists; more often than not you won’t bump into another traveller as you wander the alleyways and markets of this attractive city.

In many ways, Solo is also Java writ small, incorporating its vices and virtues and embodying much of its heritage. On the downside, the island’s notoriously fickle temper tends to flare in Solo first – the city has been the backdrop for some of the worst riots in Java’s recent history. This fact will come as quite a surprise to most visitors, who will find the locals some of the friendliest on this crowded island. On the upside, the city’s long and distinguished past as a seat of the great Mataram empire means that it competes with Yogyakarta as the hub of Javanese culture.

As well as visitors to its two beautiful palaces, Solo attracts many students and scholars to its academies of music and dance. The city is an excellent place to see traditional performing arts, and traditional crafts, especially batik, are also well represented, as Solo is a major textile centre.

1. Bus

The Tirtonadi bus terminal is 3km from the centre of the city. Only economy buses leave from here to destinations such as Prambanan (5600Rp, 1½ hours), Yogyakarta (8500Rp, two hours) and Semarang (11, 700Rp, 2½ hours). Buses also travel to a number of destinations in East Java, including Pacitan (15, 000Rp, four hours), Surabaya (31, 600Rp, six hours) and Malang (42, 600Rp, seven hours).

Near the bus terminal, the Gilingan minibus terminal has express air-con minibuses to almost as many destinations as the larger buses. Door-to-door minibuses go to Yogyakarta (25, 000Rp), Semarang (35, 000Rp), Surabaya or Malang (85, 000Rp), Denpasar (210, 000Rp) and Jakarta (160, 000Rp). Homestays, cafés and travel agents also sell these tickets.

2. Train

Solo is located on the main Jakarta–Yogyakarta–Surabaya train line and most trains stop at Balapan (714039), the main train station.

The quickest and most convenient way to get to Yogyakarta is on the Prameks (business 6500Rp, one hour), which departs from Balapan five times a day at 5.45am, 8.25am, 11.35am, 2.41pm and 5.43pm.

Express trains to Jakarta include the Argo Lawu (executive 210, 000Rp, 7½ hours, once daily at 8.10am), which is the most luxurious day train; the Senja Utama (business 100, 000Rp, 10 hours, once a day at 6pm); and the executive Bima (from 200, 000Rp, nine hours, once daily at 9pm).

The Lodaya (business/executive 100, 000/150, 000Rp, nine hours) departs for Bandung at 8pm and the Sancaka (business/executive 60, 000/85, 000Rp, five hours) swings through Balapan at 8.14am and 4.58pm on its way from Yogyakarta to Surabaya.

For Semarang, catch the Pandan Wangi (business 13, 000Rp, two hours) at 5.15am and 1.30pm.

Jebres train station in the northeast of Solo has a few economy-class services to Surabaya and Jakarta, but if you’re saving pennies, the bus is a more comfortable option.

Air

On Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, Silk Air (724604/5; www.silkair.com; Novotel Hotel, Jl Slamet Riyadi 272) flies to Singapore for US$214 return (one way is US$50 more expensive). At the time of writing, domestic services were limited to two daily flights to Jakarta with Garuda (630082; Hotel Cakra; Jl Slamet Riyadi 201).

LED HDTV

Plasma TVs used to dominate over LCD because they were bigger and had a better picture. LCDs have caught up a lot and the two technologies are in a good old fashioned market driven fight. LED HDTVs are a new breed but very expensive. In the near future LED TVs will be as thin as a credit card and will go on a wall like wall paper. The technology is very new and expensive. I wouldn’t suggest getting an LED just yet. Choose between a Plasma or LCD screen for now and wait until the price drops and the technology of LED HDTV evolves.

Plasma wins out in the contrast ratio category. This is the difference between the darkest darks and the whitest whites. The contrast ratio of LCD screens has caught up but still can’t beat Plasma.

If you are going to be using your TV to view still images or as a second computer monitor (which is fantastic with a Mac Mini by the way), LCD wins out. our flat screen computer monitors are LCD technology because they handle still images the best.

Plasma HDTV

For moving images, like chase scenes in movies, Plasma wins out. LCDs have caught up a lot but there is still a lag time that Plasma definitely has an edge over. Plasma TVs can be viewed from almost the complete side. If your room you’ll be putting the TV in is small though, this shouldn’t really matter.

Both Plasma and LCD have similar lifetimes, the biggest factor depends on the manufacturer. This is why you should get HDTV ratings for whatever set you are looking to buy. Don’t base your judgement on number alone, because they can be made up by the manufacturer. TV companies say “1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio”, which is a total lie. So, make sure you read online reviews of the TVs and also view them in person at a Local TV store or a Best Buy.

LCD 1080p HDTV

For very large HDTVs, like 50 inches and bigger, Plasma TVs have shown to be more resilient. This has to do with complicated electronics theory. Just note that if you are planning on buying a big set, Plasma is probably superior. Samsung and LG have made very large Plasmas that have proven to be very good.

When it comes to power consumption, LCD are still best, which is another reason they are used in computer monitors. This is simply because the neon gas that is inside a plasma TV takes more electricity to light up. The LCD TVs use about half the power generally.

You get what you pay for. A $4,000 TV will definitely be better than a $1,500 model but the enhancements aren’t necessary for your average TV watcher. When in the store, take a look at the picture on the different models. Real TV buffs are the only ones who will find the picture quality difference enough to spend the extra money.
